From 1 to 12 November 2021, the 26th Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will take place in Glasgow.
At the climate summit, 197 countries will come together to agree on reducing greenhouse gases to prevent the serious consequences of climate change and to provide aid to developing countries that are already suffering the consequences.
FairClimateFund will campaign for A Fair Race to Net-Zero, together with partners Fairtrade International and WOCAN. Therefore, we will organise a side event during the COP26: A Fair Race to Net-Zero, scaling fair, inclusive and gender-focused voluntary carbon markets . We aim to ensure that a transition to a net zero carbon economy is fair, inclusive and gender-focused and doesn’t overlook people living in the most vulnerable regions.
The intent of this session seeks to highlight and advance the issues on additionality of carbon projects, carbon finance for adaptation in developing countries, carbon markets as a mechanism to reduce emissions (mitigation of global emissions) and the alignment of the SDGs with the voluntary carbon market.
