PLUS recently finished in first place again in the annual sustainability survey of GfK and was voted "Most Responsible Supermarket". The supermarket chains were assessed by nearly 5,000 consumers on nine sustainable aspects: Customers and society, Health, Sustainable trade, Climate, Local involvement, Fairtrade, Food waste, Animal welfare and Employees. This year, PLUS scored a place in the top 3 on all 9 themes. With three themes, PLUS scored a number 1 position, namely the EKO/Organic range, environmentally friendly measures and information about healthy food.
PLUS has been the Most Responsible Supermarket in the Netherlands for five years in a row and is the first organization in the Netherlands that also uses Fairtrade Carbon Credits for the carbon offsetting of its 260 supermarkets since 2017. Moreover, PLUS is introducing the very first Fairtrade and climate neutral banana in supermarkets this fall.
