In addition to her duties in the family, Nalene has her own sewing machine for the past six months, with which she earns some extra money by sewing sari blouses and sari dresses. "Because I'm cooking on biogas now, I'm ready very quickly and I have a lot of time to sew my blouses and dresses. Cooking on biogas is a piece of cake compared to cooking on wood", says Nalene. "No more blowing to stir up the fire, no more watery eyes and I do not have to stay with it all the time."
Nalene (19) lives with her parents, sisters and the family of her uncle and aunt in the village of Mallagurki. Since she finished her schooling, her job is to take care of family meals.
