About FairClimateFund
FairClimateFund (FCF) helps individuals, businesses and organizations to become climate neutral. We scan, reduce and offset CO2 emissions. After calculating the CO2 emissions we offer advice to reduce energy consumption and then we compensate your remaining CO2 emissions.
The fund is a social entrepreneurship founded by ICCO and Kerk in Actie. We set up climate projects in poor countries with poor families and trade CO2 rights from these projects at a fair price. This is all done in the most reliable way according to the Gold Standard.
FCF is building biogas facilities in India for example. This results in families spending less time per day gathering wood in order to cook on traditional stoves. These extra precious hours per day can be used to earn extra money, in actuality the biogas installation often doubles their income. It not only provides the family with extra income, but also provides a healthier living environment through the use of biogas. Some 2.4 billion people worldwide use local fuels for cooking and heating, such as wood. The smoke generated in this process results in significant health problems. Approximately 1.9 million people die annually due to in-house smoke of which the majority are women and children who are often near the fire. FCF’s projects help solve this problem.
FCF delivers fair trade CO2 credits while providing more income and a healthier environment for families on the spot. FCF invests income received from the sale of CO2 credits immediately in new pro-poor renewable energy projects in developing countries.
